Looking Glass Allan Holdsworth. It is listenable, partly enjoyable and worthwhile for anyone with a special holdswortj in Holdsworth’s experimental Jazz-Rock style. I believe this disc helped me grow as a listener.
Possibly, could be interesting for musicians, some heavy fans, but atacachron it is one of weakest Holdsworth albums ever. Against the Clock compilation came from this disc.

The Best of Allan Holdsworth: Still, the album is very enjoyable. Allan Holdsworth albums albums Enigma Records albums. Holdsworgh release was special in that it marks Holdsworth ‘s first use of the SynthAxe holdeworth electric guitar. That is something very rare which reveals the size and the power of his genius. His intention was not to become a professional musician. As regard to the compositions: The present album saw him experimenting with his in famous SynthAxe for the first time, an instrument that is a mix between a guitar and a synthesiser and is depicted on the weird cover art picture. I had to dig deeper to understand what is being played, to tell the difference between Alan Pasqua’s beatiful keyboard and this new contraption, the synthaxe.
But main problem is who else is interested afavachron listening this experiments in sounds. This is very good, but not an essential progrock album. Overall, Atavachron is an interesting album but I find it hard to see it as anything over and above a curiosity.
To a degree I also enjoy the album Holdsworth did with Jon Hiseman’s Tempest earlier on in the 70’s, though Holdsworth had not yet really developed his distinctive sound at that point. This marks Holdsworth’s first recorded use of the SynthAxean instrument which would be featured prominently on many of his future albums. Atavachron sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard.
Not of this earth I believe, he was very interested noldsworth new sound and new possibilities. Holdsworth has always sought a horn-like voicing with the ability to manipulate a note in a myriad of ways.
So, he had to invent new methods of recording – using distortion in order to create the absolutely necessary sustain – and finally he had to convince the engineer to try out these unconventional practices!
