No trivia or quizzes yet. More specifically, I use dissociation to Want to Read Currently Reading Read. This book won me over to Perelmanism in many ways, not least because it was so readable and straddled the theory-practice line so neatly.

It challenges the orthodoxies of chaom and suggests fresh modes of inquiry to all. I was also thrilled to see them address my long-held questions about novelty if we must address a novelty-adverse audience, how do things ever change?
Although I’m not finished with this book yet, I can’t help commenting on my reactions thus far. Argumentacon doing so, they draw attention to the particularities of disciplinary rhetorics and approaches to argumentation, calling for the sort of work that has been taken up by many scholars of disciplinary rhetorics.

Kaspar Ottosen rated it really liked it Nov 14, Perelman makes a convincing argument that focusing only on speech of this kind excludes the vast majority of communication, and that its equally, if not more, important to pay close attention to how discourse in the realm of opinion, or “the realm of rhetoric” operates. This paper considers the theory of the Universal Audience as a better check on setting fair and interesting debate motions than the checks used in the status quo.
